Life is anything but a “drag” for screen legend Elizabeth Taylor. The classy dame has been passing her once restless days with the high-energy hijinks of over-the-top gender bender RuPaul.

Elizabeth has fallen in love with Ru’s Logo reality show, RuPaul’s Drag Race, which the 77-year-old gleefully calls “the funniest show on TV.”

“RuPaul is her new obsession,” a Hollywood spy reveals in the Aug. 31 issue of The National Enquirer. “She can’t get enough of the drag queens!”

Elizabeth loves the show so much that she recently mailed RuPaul a thank you letter and an autographed photo. It was Liz’s hairdresser, celebrity mane man Jose Eber, who first introduced the Cleopatra star to the television
drag competition, which sees contestants dressed as women competing in a series of challenges for the title of “America’s Next Drag Superstar.”

“Liz claps when the drag queens she’s picked win,” the spy claims.

Friends close to Elizabeth credit the show with helping the actress cope with a variety of emotional and health issues, including chronic pain, limited mobility, and grief over the recent death of her dear friend Michael Jackson.

“These days there’s not a whole lot that makes her happy, so to see her light up watching a bunch of guys dressed as women is a kick. Liz can be moaning in pain from her various aliments, but then she has a staffer a pop in one of the RuPaul shows and suddenly she starts to laugh.”

The Los Angeles County coroner’s office has deemed Michael Jackson’s June 25 death a homicide, according to the Los Angeles Times.

A month and a half after Jackson’s memorial in Los Angeles — and about a week before his scheduled burial — the coroner’s office revealed that his doctor, Conrad Murray, had given him “lethal levels” of propofol intravenously to treat his insomnia. Murray said he had been trying to wean the pop giant from the drug, and had previously lowered his dosage from 50 milligrams to 25 milligrams, while also combining it with two other sedatives (lorazepam and midazolam).

The morning before Jackson died, Murray attempted to induce sleep without using the propofol, according to a court affidavit. When the Valium that Murray gave Jackson at 1:30 a.m. did not work, Murray gave him lorazepam at 2 a.m., and an hour later, a dosage of midazolam.

He continued to give Jackson more drugs through the morning, until 10:40 a.m., when Jackson allegedly demanded 25 milligrams of propofol, which Murray admits to administering.

Police confiscated other drugs from Jackson’s home.

Investigators have yet to determine whether Murray’s decision to administer the drug to Jackson outside a hospital setting reaches a level of negligence required for an involuntary manslaughter charge.

Actor Mehcad Brooks, who plays “Eggs” Benedict Talley on HBO’s True Blood, competed in the Tag the World Celebity Triathlon in Hawaii on Sunday (August 23). The annual charity event raises funds and awareness for the Tag the World campaign which supports 20 charities under 5 causes. This year’s event benefited It Takes An Ohana (ITAO), a charity that works to raise awareness and funds for Hawaii’s children in foster care.

Check out more photos of Brooks after the jump…

Some organization called the Black Coalition Against Gay Marriage (anyone heard of these clowns?) sent a letter to the White House, stating that any support from President Barack Obama for same sex marriage would negatively impact his black backers.

“Changing the definition of marriage will have many unintended consequences which will hurt generations to come,” the coalition noted in its missive.

Maybe I would take the BCAGM seriously if it was filled with mainstream organizations. Outside of a few religious group’s (no one should be surprised by that), the only big name in the coalition is CORE, the Congress of Racial Equality. However, CORE is a shell of its former self and its credibility was shot when Roy Innis picked brawling as a political tactic.

BCAGM needs to get its news from an other source. Obama taking on DOMA? Really? The members of the coalition need to spend more time reading gay news site (instead of trolling the net looking for gay porn) because they might learn a thing or two. By the way: nothing wrong with using the net for porn viewing.

We’ve talked about the combination of race, sexuality, and marriage ever since the Proposition 8 vote in November so there is not anything new to add. The coalition has a point. If Obama pushes for the dismantling of DOMA, he will lose a few religious black votes; however, those votes will be quickly replaced. Subtraction by addition.

If we want to learn how to navigate the race, sexuality, and marriage waters we should study what happened in Washington, DC. A predominantly black city that came out for marriage rights despite the yammering of a few.
