It’s still Tiger Time as far as TAG Heuer is concerned.

The prestigious watchmaker has clarified Friday’s reports that it had dropped Tiger Woods as a “brand ambassador” in the wake of his adultery scandals.

In a statement to UsMagazine.com, TAG Heuer President and CEO Jean-Christoph Babin says, “the partnership with Tiger Woods will continue.” With some temporary modifications, that is.

“We will downscale the use of his image in certain markets for a period of time, depending on his decision about returning to professional golf,” Babin explains.

The decision to “downscale” was made out of “respect” for Woods’ “privacy” at this time. “We will continue to actively support the Tiger Woods Foundation,” Babin adds.

Richard Phibbs’ latest editorial “Boot Camp” featured in the French publication L’Équipe, is a brilliant throwback to 1940’s propaganda. The feature includes favorites Chad White, Kerry Degman and Oraine Barrett and up and coming stars Mike Derr and Ryan Bertroche in an aesthetic similar to that of Frank Capra’s Army recruitment films during World War II. It captures a classic masculine ideal and hails to a disciplinary theme that we’ve seen reoccurring in recent editorials. (story by Gary Mazrek from models.com)

Note to producers worried about the tough economics of Broadway: If you can’t get a big-name movie star to anchor your show, consider enlisting a groundbreaking choreographer to liven things up.

Featuring a book by Jones and Jim Lewis and the pulsating rhythms and radical lyrics of Fela’s music, the show, which had its world premiere off-Broadway last year, teaches the American musical new moves. And I’m not just referring to what happens onstage. Like the current Broadway revival of “Hair,” directed by Diane Paulus and choreographed by the cutting-edge Karole Armitage, “Fela!” doesn’t permit theatergoers to sit by passively.

Fela 2 A rousing, always in motion Sahr Ngaujah, who alternates in the title role with Kevin Mambo, enjoins the audience to sing and shake their derrieres along with him. A skimpily clad ensemble streams up and down the aisle to bring the musical’s energy directly to us. Differences in age and size are no obstacles as spectators learn to get down West African style: For 2 1/2 bouncy hours, self-consciousness is magically held in abeyance.

This dissident journey isn’t related with anything resembling documentary thoroughness (Fela’s run-ins with the authorities are fuzzily presented and there’s oddly no mention of his death from AIDS-related causes). But the spirit of his fight for justice is made universally resonant, and the fusion of his sound is rapturously celebrated with a pinwheel parade of pelvises.

tigerwoodsGot wood? Tiger Woods’ British lawyers have secured a court order barring publications from printing nude pictures and/or videos of the superstar golfer. The order issued by the High Court of London has been circulated by Woods’ lawyers to British publications and blogs, according TMZ. The golfer has already paid the $164 fine. State attorney’s office officials told Florida troopers there is insufficient evidence to pursue case further and no claims of domestic violence were made.

Reporting from Orlando, Fla. – After five days of speculation about Tiger Woods’ crash outside his mansion, the Florida Highway Patrol announced Tuesday it gave the world’s No. 1 golfer a traffic ticket.

Woods already has paid the $164 fine, court records show.

Woods, 33, drove carelessly when he steered his Cadillac Escalade into a fire hydrant and then into a neighbor’s tree about 2:25 a.m. Friday, troopers said. In addition to the fine, he received four points on his driving record, FHP spokeswoman Sgt. Kim Montes said.

During a brief news conference, Montes insisted that the world-famous athlete had not received special treatment.

The Orange-Osceola state attorney’s office advised troopers there was insufficient evidence to issue a subpoena or require that blood evidence from Woods’ hospitalization be handed to investigators, said Maj. Cindy Williams.

No one involved in the incident made any claims of domestic violence, Williams said. Such allegations might have compelled investigators to look further into the accident.
