Adam Lambert is a year into the wild ride that began when he emerged out of the pack on American Idol last January.
The guy who parlayed a runner-up finish into an album deal and a reputation for creating controversy was in Toronto on Monday to promote his album, For Your Entertainment.
In an interview with CBC’s Q cultural affairs show, Lambert said he is heeding some advice from Madonna about fame.
“She said, ‘You really have to keep your eye on the prize and put your blinders up,’” Lambert said. “Don’t get sidetracked by what the press is saying about you and what message boards are saying about you and this and that…. Have a goal, have a focus and just stay tuned in on that.”

Controversial reggae artist Buju Banton is nominated for a Grammy Award but will probably not be attending the January 31 ceremony… because he’s in jail. As Spinner previously reported, Banton (real name Mark Anthony Myrie) was arrested on December 10 in Miami, charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than five kilos of cocaine.
Per his lawyer’s request, Banton was transferred to Tampa, Fla. where the indictment was originally filed. The Associated Press reports that Banton pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in federal court on Thursday. According to the article, Banton’s lawyer said they will not seek a deal as his client maintains his innocence.

According to a judge, Chris Brown is complying with the terms of his probation.
City News Service reports that a Los Angeles judge made the ruling Thursday.
Last summer, a judge sentenced Brown to receive five years of probation and six months of community labor in Virginia (his home state), after he was charged with assaulting his ex-girlfriend, singer Rihanna. He was also ordered not to contact Rihanna and keep 100 yards away from her — 10 yards if they both attend a music biz event — for the next five years.
Chris Brown used to be one of the hottest tickets in town, but according to ticket scalpers, Chris Brown is losing his appeal with concert goers.
The “Kiss Kiss” hitmaker played a gig at the Avalon in Hollywood last night, and the show’s sold out status had more to do with the small venue size than with demand for tickets.
