NEWCOMERS OF THE YEAR: THE AMAZIN’S

A few years ago, when Mets shortstop Jose Reyes and third baseman David Wright were little more than promising young prospects, Reyes invented a celebration dance for them—a little dugout shtick to commemorate home runs and other happy occasions. It’s not much: slap, backward slap, two shoulder taps, and a hug. “We wanted to keep it nice and easy,” Reyes says with a smile.
